Tuesday!

Year 6 detectives solving mathematical problems during a treasure-hunt this morning.

In the afternoon, the children witnessed a scene in a restaurant involving a customer (Miss O’Sullivan) and a waitress (aka Mrs O’Neil). In response to what they have seen, the children will be writing formal letters of complaint to the restaurant’s owner tomorrow.

We have started selling tickets for the Easter Egg Raffle. Thank you to parents for your chocolate donations!

K’Nex Challenge 2015

A brilliant and creative morning was had by all in Years 5 and 6. A representative from STEMworks set the children a challenge which got them thinking about structures and mechanisms. The activity was both exciting and engaging! Well done to all of our young engineers!

Year 6 Author Event

As part of LitFest 2015, our local library invited us to meet an author, Cate Cain, on Friday. Cate Cain is the author of ‘Jade Boy’, an historical adventure based around the Fire of London in 1666. Cate really is a great storyteller as she had us all gripped by some rather spooky tales. An author of historical fiction, she really does her research and fascinated us with gruesome facts about the seventeenth century. At the end of the session, she passed around a piece of history – a 400 year old pot – and only revealed its age once we had all touched the artefact. Magical! Thank you to Hertfordshire Library Service for organising this event – Cate has certainly inspired us all to read more!

World Book Day!

We've had a wonderful day today! Thank you to Mrs Bradley for reading a story to us in French. We enjoyed learning new words!

Friday 27 February

As we are in Lent, the children chose to focus on the theme of ‘temptation’ in Mass on Friday. But instead of thinking of things we could give up for Lent, we have set ourselves the challenge of completing forty acts of generosity. Thank you to Father Michael for celebrating Mass with us and to all family members who joined us.
Miss O’Sullivan was extremely proud of Year 6 on Friday afternoon as they readily took on different roles, helping to ‘run’ House Cross Country. Well done to all children across the school for taking part - runners and spectators! It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon!
